Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a profound and holistic therapeutic care method that traces its theoretical background in the Principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shiatsu was formed as a method in mid-20th century Japan.

In addition to its extremely pleasant and relieving effect on the body, it is a deep health care that affects four levels: the physical body, its energy or vital background, the emotional level, and the mental level.

One of shiatsu‘s advantages is its special diagnostic tools for “reading” the body’s energetic and physical condition: during treatment, the practitioner can effectively recognize -and then take care of- the sensitivities or weaknesses of the body before they develop into illnesses.

How it is applied

During a shiatsu session the recipient lies down wearing comfortable clothing. The abdomen (hara) is palpated to assess the body’s special needs, and the appropriate work mode is selected. The shiatsu practitioner then works throughout the body with mild pressures and other techniques such as stretching, etc.

Duration: 50-60 min
